Introducing our CGC Recruitment team in Perth
With an ever-increasing demand in the construction and engineering sector, it made sense for CGC Recruitment to expand our operations to serve our clients nationally.
Read moreIn the first newsletter of the new financial year we will look at our predictions for the market and well as giving an overview of CGC’s plans for financial year 2013/14.
Despite a large amount of negative in recent days, most notably the unemployment rate rising to 5.7% in June, the outlook for the economy and job market is not all doom and gloom.
The increased stability in the Australian Dollar (@$91.66 today) is supporting the financial markets and we have seen strong gains for the big miners this week which may assist in stabilising the resources states. In addition to this, assets in the benchmark UBS Global Infrastructure & Utilities Index returned nearly 30 per cent in the year to March 31 and 18 per cent over the last three years.
Firstly, we are still seeing a lot of movement in the job market despite the increase in unemployment levels. Demand is high for individuals with project specific experience such as RMS, Healthcare & Data Centre. There are a number of high profile projects in every state (NRAH, Barangaroo, VCCC to name but a few) so the opportunities are out there. This is in addition to an underlying demand from second and third tier organisations across all our business units.
Follow the work! If you are really serious about a move or looking to work on specific projects to take your career to the next level then we would recommend being open to moving interstate to pick up that project specific experience which will take you career forward.
Act now! The permanent recruitment process is also on average taking longer than in previous years. This isn’t down to the lack of vacancies; this is down to tight margins. The requirements are out there but companies aren’t going to carry staff unnecessarily. It is important to work in a strategic fashion and be patient the job search may take some time, however, if the first opportunity is the right one then take it!

After finishing a year which saw us successfully enter the BRW Fast 100 we took the opportunity on Friday 28th June to outline the plans for the business for the next financial year and undertake some brainstorming exercises on a variety of topics. In the morning we reviewed the company performance and outlined of future budgets.
As a group we also discuss the areas which CGC are committing to in terms of investment in our infrastructure and systems to ensure all of the consultants at CGC are in a position to remain at the forefront of the industry and are able to offer unrivalled service to our clients and candidates.
The first stage of this investment saw the launch of our new website.
We also have a number of areas of expansion which we will be looking to execute in the next 12 months. If you are an experienced recruitment consultant that is looking to work for a progressive and forward thinking business then please contact David Cox on david@cgcrecruitment.com for more details.
Once the brainstorming and objectives session was completed we moved onto the lunch at Kinsley’s on King St followed by afternoon’s activities at the Imperial hotel in Paddington where had use of The Elbow Room. We have a selection of photo’s below from the afternoon:
