Jamie Ryde – Financial Year recap
With the downturn in the Residential sector, this has given other areas the opportunity to progress with continued investment from both the private and public sectors with a growth of 16.8% Nationally.
The biggest movers and shakers being the Commercial 20.9% and Factory and Warehouse sectors and 82.98% and 27.2% increase retrospectively. Both figures are substantial growth from FY17/18.
The Education sector continues to grow, albeit at a 15.3% lesser rate than last FY with significant investment in Schools Infrastructure, the NSW Government is investing $6.7 billion over the next four years to deliver 190 new and upgraded schools.
The Health sector (non aged care) has had a 52 % change in Building works, currently with over 90 projects under way in NSW, their teams are managing Australia’s largest portfolio of health capital works. Interestingly enough, two-thirds are in regional and rural NSW!
Accommodation continues to be a solid performer accompanied by Transport Buildings. The biggest downturn can be seen in Religious Building and Agriculture.
The outlook for 2019 continues to be positive, with state election resulting in continued investment.
Infrastructure continues to forecast well with Engineering activity and employment levels predicted to rise.
