As 2013 draws to a close this month’s newsletter will revisit some of the key themes from the last 12 months at CGC Recruitment and the wider construction and engineering industry.
January 2013
CGC welcomed Principal Consultant Dan Kundi to the business to focus on roles within the HSEQ space. In the building industry there was excitement around the upcoming projects in the healthcare sector and project awards on the North Sydney freight line upgrades.
February 2013
In February 2013 CGC moved to larger premises at Loftus Street in Circular Quay In our newsletter we also highlighted uplift in the building industry for 2013 and predicted growth in the housing sector.
March 2013
In March we highlighted the challenges in the resources sector and predicted salaries would remain steady until some of the major projects came online. At CGC we enjoyed an end of quarter bash at the Tigers V Eels at Leichardt oval.
April 2013
In April CGC welcome Steve Morris to the consulting business to focus on contact assignments within the civil and structural space. We also highlighted a continual improvement within the SME client base.
May 2013
May was a busy month for the CGC business with Billy Versey joining the team as a Principal Consultant within the building team. Nick and Dave also had the honour of attending the BRW Fast Starters award night where CGC where recognised as the 70th fastest starter. The May newsletter highlighted the continual strength of the residential building market.
June 2013
June saw us wrap up our financial year with a roundup of our key markets. The infrastructure and power markets were highlighted as challenging areas whilst the building an healthcare sectors were sighted as busy areas.
July 2013
In July Australia welcomed a new Prime Minister in Kevin Rudd and the newsletter reflected on the challenges within the construction and engineering industry. The advice from CGC was to follow the work and urged patience for those seeking new opportunities. At CGC we celebrated our end of financial year and launched our new website!
August 2013
The August newsletter focused on the need for continuity in infrastructure planning and emphasised the need to end the boom and bust cycle of industry funding. At CGC we welcomed Glynis MacDonald to the team as Office Manager.
September 2013
In September Australia welcomed another new PM and elected the Coalition government to power. The CGC newsletter highlighted the key infrastructure spending promises of the new government.
October 2013
In October we noted the increased level of optimism in the market place brought about by the expected political continuity. The MEP sector was highlighted as buoyant market with Revit professionals in high demand. At CGC we held our end of quarter celebrations at the Wentworth park dogs.
November 2013
The November newsletter had a large focus on the announced Sydney Light Rail project from the NSW government. With 10,000 new jobs promised and up to $4 Billion in economic benefits expected this is one to watch in the next couple of years. Outside of the office some of the CGC team took part in the annual JP Morgan fun run at Centennial Park.
December 2013
At CGC we are continuing to see positive signs in the market and optimism is continuing in to the New Year where we expect to see continual growth in the building sector and a rebound within the infrastructure space. As a team we also held our Christmas Party where we enjoyed a Christmas lunch, some kayaking, cricket and lawn bowls.
