Welcome to the October newsletter for CGC Recruitment.
In this month’s edition we hear from our latest recruit Rory Todd with a market update on recruitment within the NSW Government, as well as our usual round up of goings on within CGC HQ.
A quick snapshot
With an abundance of major projects on the horizon the local Sydney market is experiencing a significant upturn particularly around the building construction and consulting engineering markets. We are seeing a significant demand for skilled Project Managers (residential, commercial, healthcare), Design Managers (infrastructure) and Commercial Managers (rail). With the volume of work lined up for 2015 we expect to see this activity continue until the end of the calendar year.

I have recently moved over to Sydney after spending the last 2 years recruiting in the Oil and Gas markets in Europe. My focus is to grow CGC’s reputation in the NSW Public Sector.
As an approved supplier to the NSW Government under the 0007 Contingent workforce panel CGC are able to supply contract staff under categories E (Professional), F (Technical) and J (Transport). I have been out on the road visiting clients across the Sydney Metro area in focusing on Transport, Engineering and Construction requirements for some of Sydney’s most visible infrastructure projects.
These meetings have been very successful and we are expecting a significant influx of contract requirements across the following areas:
- Project Manager (Rail)
- Project Engineers (Rail)
- Project Managers (Building/Refurbishment)
- Traffic & Road Safety Engineers
- Design Engineers (Civil & Electrical)
After completing my first month with CGC the market has warmly received our service offering and I am keen to speak with candidates who are interested in working within the NSW Government.

CGC News with David Thompson
It’s been an eventful month here at CGC HQ. Last Friday we had our end of quarter celebrations, where we kicked things off with a few drinks in Glenmore. This was followed by food at the Australian and onto the Dogs at Wentworth Park. It was an unsuccessful night all round on the betting front however we were still able to enjoy ourselves.
With the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge approaching, competition is heating up in the office to take the fastest man/woman in the office award. The hard work has been
put in on our lunch time fitness sessions and the three favourites are James Loomes, Billy and Rory.
Team building attended the Housing Industry Association breakfast in Cockle Bay Wharf. They got an interesting insight into the property market, specifically the property bubble and if/when it’s going to burst!
In other big news, we recently celebrated two engagements here in the office – Nick Cutis on his engagement to the lovely Sammi Mason and James Loomes popped the question to his better half Ella in a romantic beach side setting in Tasmania.
Finally congratulations to David Hope on his promotion to Associate Director. A well-deserved recognition for his efforts in building CGC’s presence in the building sector over the last 3 years.
