Welcome to the January newsletter.

The sentiment in the construction and engineering sector is very positive and 2016 looks to be a strong year for the market. In this month’s newsletter we hear from David Hope who has recently relocated to open CGC’s first interstate office in Brisbane.

David Hope on the QLD industry:

After struggling for the past 5 years the QLD building market is currently in very good shape with most established builders in QLD being busy across multiple sectors.

Following suit from VIC and NSW the residential market in Brisbane is the most buoyant with the commercial fit out sector not too far behind. The general vibe from speaking with our clients in Brisbane is it should be a busy year for all with plenty of projects currently being tendered on and some landmark residential/health and commercial projects being released by middle of the year including the Brisbane Casino.

Over recent years the GFC in QLD has affected many different areas but one that was most affected was the Gold Coast. Over the past 12 months there has been more and more work released on the Coast and the local builders are extremely busy down there. Over the course of the next 12 months there will be an influx of cranes appearing on the coast with several large projects due to start, two of the main projects are Jupiter’s Casino which is a Probuild development and the Jewell project which Brookfield Multiplex have recently secured with the build cost being around the $600M mark.

These projects will demand many staff and will be a good opportunity for building professionals from other states to relocate to the Gold Coast for a few years and soak up the QLD sun!

CGC Brisbane is expecting a positive and busy year! If you are looking for a new career opportunity or you are looking for staff to assist you in the mini QLD boom please contact David Hope on 0406 665 799 or david.hope@cgcrecruitment.com.

Please contact Nick@cgcrecruitment.com for further details.

CGC Social

Things on the social calendar have been relatively quiet this month. With Christmas and New Year out the way it’s all about new fitness regimes and sensible eating – We’ll see how long that lasts as the charity sweet box has already taken a dent – mainly by Mr Versey!!

We also celebrated some CGC anniversary’s this month. Dave Hope turned 4, Dave Thompson 2 and Dan Kundi 1 (all in CGC years).

With Australia Day been and gone we are now looking forward to a busy 2016 with opportunities aplenty in the construction and engineering sectors.
